UV curing resin
UV curing resin, also known as Photopolymer, can be polymerized by exposing UV light. Since it can be used without organic solvents, UV curing is thought to be an environmentally friendly process.

UV curing resin is composed of two elements, monomers, and photoinitiators. A monomer can be polymerized radically or ionically based on its functional groups. On the other hand, a photoinitiator generates radical species or reactive ionic species. The property can be easily controlled by tuning its composition. Due to its high reactivity and easy processing, UV curing resin is widely applied in various industries.
It is a formulation of monomers which have radically or ionically reactive functional groups like an acrylic group or an epoxy group. It is possible to make it solvent free by using dilution monomers.
Before curing, it is sometimes toxic. But after curing, it is almost non toxic.
Photopolymer is used as an ink for printing. Since its low viscosity, high resolution could be achieved.
Generally they can be synthesized by conventional organic synthetic processes. For example, acrylic type photopolymers are synthesized by esterification of an alcohol and an acrylic acid.
